| I am a graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos, TX with a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Community Counseling. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in both psychology and child development from Houston Baptist University. I am currently licensed by the State of Texas as a Professional Counselor-Intern and a member of the American Counseling Association.
I have worked in both a clinical setting and educational setting with adolescents. I worked in Austin, TX at The Settlement Home, a psychiatric treatment center for adolescent girls as a Youth Care counselor. I worked with girls diagnosed with varying disorders including eating disorders, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders with a history of both physical and sexual abuse. Currently I work with Communities In Schools as a Project Manager, counseling high schoolers struggling with various at-risk issues. My expertise includes working with extreme clinical cases, case management, crisis intervention, adolescents, sexual abuse, anxiety and depression.
It is my desire to effect change in other people's lives and to help them to see their own inner strengths and abilities so that they may overcome varying issues. My approach to therapy is a joint collaboration between me and my clients to discover what may be holding them back, to set goals and work in a nurturing and supportive environment towards achieving those goals. I believe every client is the expert on themselves and do not attempt to use one formula to help everyone; I believe in tailoring and collaborating to discover creative ways in which to impact change.
