Carrie Martinez, MA, LPC - Intern
Supervised by Debbie Edmunds, MA, LPC-S
I graduated from Bellevue University with a Masters Degree in Human services with a degree focus in Clinical Counseling, and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University. I am currently licensed by the state of Texas as a Professional Counselor-Intern, a member of the American Counseling Association, a certified Solution Focused Counselor, certified in Adoption for Children with Special Needs, and have achieved a National Mental Health Award.

Professionally I have worked as an intern at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's eating disorders unit providing individual and group counseling for patients hospitalized with an eating disorder; also provided community and family education. Other professional experience includes working as a counselor with children and families, case management, assessment, and EAP counseling. Areas of expertise are working with chronic mental illness, crisis intervention, domestic violence, childhood disorders and abuse, addictions, depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and special needs.

My passion is helping people make positive changes in their lives and to overcome obstacles that may keep daily life from functioning smoothly. When nothing in life seems to be working, it's time to step back and look at the big picture. Are you living the life you want to live or following a path that someone else has chosen for you? Do you continue to hit the same road block and know that change is necessary, but need help to get there? Everyone falls down in life from time to time, but not everyone is brave enough to reach out and ask for help. My approach to therapy is to provide a supportive, nurturing, and non-judgmental environment where we can work collaboratively to overcome barriers and to develop new skills to help you reach your goals.

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony." - Mohandas Gandhi
